A. INTRODUCTION:
A.1.
BACKROUND
Mr. Ven Sophorn and Mr. Khan Sovithy and another executive members
founded KYCC. It has been operated since 01 January 2001 after their visited
the SamboPrey Kuh Temple, Kampong Thom Proving. They have been looking for
partners and location for the operation. They have also approached NGOs to be
their partners.
A.2. GOALS
After Cambodian have war a long time, culture is very showdown that
effective to Khmer people forgot their identities and culture identities. So
group of youth have approached a project that working children and youth in
communities.
KYCC is basically operated as follows:
A. workshop on culture and Study Tour or field trip
B. Environment and health
C. Education and dissemination
D. Traditional performance
E. Developing creative games for children in the community
A.3. ACTIVITES
All activities the members setting up by structure and volunteer of
members to practice that activities. The volunteer members work together to:
a. HELD WORSHOP ON CULTURE
A three-month course held Mondays through Friday (Morning or Afternoon)
lasts for 25 two-hour session on the following topics:
1. Cambodian History
2. Cambodian arts (Pre-During and Past Angkor Ian Periods)
3. Cambodian tradition, custom and Civilization Field trip to the resort site.
* After complete the culture workshop members will be study tour to temple
for write report finally of culture workshop.
b. ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTHE
To launch campaign to keep the social environment clean and mountain The
nature’s beauty as well as to ensure the safety and health for the people.
c. EDUCATION AND DISSEMINATION
To raise the educational awareness in the community among those who are
illiterate.
To disseminate the community on the development and awareness.
d. TRADITIONAL PERFORMANCE
To teach the community to be aware of the traditional dance and other
performance
e. Developing Creative Materials for Children in the Community.
To develop easy games for the community relevant to the culture,
environment and education for children and young adults.
A.4. Mission
KYCC would not be able to successfully and fruitfully operate its project
without support from its members and volunteers.
A.5. OBJECTIVES
-To conduct training in the community.
-To open forum for the youths to express their views with NGO’s on the
culture and other relevant issues in the Cambodian context. This can be
operated with the involvement from the teaching / training council.
-To conduct field trip to the historical resort sites.
-To form research team to record documents related to Cambodian tradition,
custom and culture so as to produce monthly Newsletter.
-To disseminates the information in communities and provinces.
-To conduct review workshop on the completion of the three month course where
participate experts in culture and references.
-To records the workshop outcome as reference sources for students.
A.6. Vision
The project’s effort and support from the members help KYCC experience
successes and develop society with awareness, happiness, equality, freedom and
democracy.
B. Performance of Activities
B.1. Workshop
On year 2001 KYCC have started cultural workshop 3 courses. And there are
people enjoyed this workshop. Total: 228. Male: 134. Female: 94.
-01 Started from: 08 January to 27 March 2001
Morning: Total: 37. Male: 24. Female: 13.
Afternoon: Total: 33. Male: 17. Female: 16.
-02 Started from: 07 May to 31 July 2001
Morning: Total: 41. Male: 23. Female: 18.

-03 Started from: 24 September to 24 December 2001
Morning: Total: 26. Male: 17. Female: 09.
Afternoon: Total: 48. Male: 25. Female: 23.

B.2. Study Tour
We had done course of study tour closely at Phnom Chiso ancient monument that
was joined by manly students. In those chance also, our members understand.
Well after they have do all course of study tour by directly on it. When done
make the course of interaction, The student has a position to observant about
difference topic that is up to each group to appointments to make researching
and substrate all everything record from the people’s report, who living
there, for bring to up with other document combination.

Moreover students will be understanding more and more about the
situation of the people’s life style at country side and search for a
good opinions or create variety good ideas to develop the remote area to
be fashionable, cause to be poor or low-grade education in the society. |
On 23 to 27, August 2001 and on 06 to 10, September 2001, The group of
Khmer Youths Camp for Culture cooperated with CamboKids association arranged
the visited trip to the Angkor area in Seam Reap Province that is the ancient
castle site and the goal of KYCC to be performance. This visited trip planning
was jointed by crowed of members that they have purpose together to cultural
researching and national identity that have been for an extremely long time
ago.

This visit trip we have been broadcast to be come lowest but the
member was grow up the knowledge a lot and can have ability to result to
student joined too. The both Angkor area visited trip is setup by KYCC,
sponsor by CamboKids Association. |
The leading KYCC’s member to visit the Royal Palace and National Museum
that able to storage a lot of antique that get from other ancient castle in
the middle wood that no one take care or protect all of those objects.

B.3. Researching and Studying
Document researching is cooperated with three main libraries such as the
following:
- Buddhist Library or we can call Buddhist Institute that is the building
for a collection the books and a lot of documents that record above all of the
culture, The group to confer for Preah Traibeydork, morale, Traditional and
other customs.
- UNESCO Library site in the Royal Find Art University, where full a lot of
books involve in the traditional, classical architecture, model the statue and
other sculpting the figure.
- Museum Library, National Museum place set the book or documents that
concerned with antique, statue, That can make us understand on the era and
notice on when or which century it was created?
B.4. Training
Our programs encouraged also our members to share each other of their
own experiences and education. Offering training course or skill course to the
member such as: Tour Guide course, Language course and Computer course that
all these technical equipment support from CamboKids association and
volunteers of KYCC group.

The 16th of January 2001, we invited our advisor VEN.I.PANNATISSA. Sri
Lanka from Ouna Loum Pagoda, to show about the relationship between
culture and religion. |
The 2nd of February 2001, we invited our advisor, Dr. PHOU THONEVATH,
Master, from Buddhist Institute, reveals under topic:
“ What’s the Khmer Culture Identity?” |
- Communicated to partners to dispatch KYCC members for understanding and
sharing each other of personal knowledge in the workshop. There for, on 07-08
of November 2001, we had ten members include 5 women and 5 men to train in and
understanding about the GENDER issues that set up by the Gender and Cambodia
Development organization (GAD/C).

In 2001 KYCC cooperated closely with CamboKids Association where provided KYCC

G. FINANCE
1. Every small amount of activities expenditure is shared each other by our
member on researching, visiting nearby the town and the communication with
other organizations.
2. The expend of visiting and long distance study tour at province is planned
to the CamboKids Association for its Ancient Khmer Temple visiting program.
3. The money from member contribution supported program, researching, office
equipment and training supply expenditures.
H. ACHIEVEMENT OF ANNUAL PLAN
As an achieve, KYCC is program had successes in culture training
workshop such as make the Cambodia young adult know much about their national
culture, great national heritages, ancient temples and sculptures in the long
period. After finished cultural study tour, the seminar groups was happy and
enjoyable because they had known directly on ancient material and the special
capacity of predecessor whom remain these great heritages for new era.
Some other youth group was taking their cultural knowledge to continue inform
to their association.
Our program also teach them how to research and how to communicate with
national organizations and international organizations for their job and their
bright future.
More over, they could learn the technical skills in order to work, share their
knowledge and teach each other.
I. CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the Khmer Youth Camp for Culture helped Khmer youths to know
about the culture value, living morality, good communication, national
identities and social development with the wisdom and social noble.
