Gender Awareness for Children & Young People

 

Project Objective:

  • To provide young people an opportunity to participants in social activities in order to stimulate changes in behavior about gender.

  • To allow participants an opportunity to discus and awareness gender, women’s rights.

  • To improve relationship between the young people clubs and students from schools and opportunity to join with youth clubs to shares knowledge.

  • To allow training of trainer of youth clubs and organization to improve more human resource of gender trainer.

Project Summaries:

Gender Awareness is a project for young people from schools and young people clubs or organization of youth. Gender Awareness KYCC specific with Children Network in communities of KYCC network they are is our groups who have completed of knowledge about rights of the children and training of trainer to peer education in their communities. Gender and Development education for young people are important especially with Youth Clubs or Organization of youth and Children Network because they are volunteers working to directly to social communities. Training of Trainer of their playing is very impact to their target. Many youth clubs are have their communities in differences target and provinces so they should be have knowledge to peer their friends or their members.

 

KYCC strengthen relationship with young people education departments in district level to shape a teaching curriculum and teaching books for gender and convention some of laws in Cambodia. KYCC wishes to equip documents from GAD/C and NGOs partners for children and young people participants.

 

Statement of Need

 

KYCC is an organization working for every children and young people: education, equality, protection, network, advance rights of the children. We are had two network of young people on two provinces (Kampong Cham in Staov secondary school and Kandal in Phnom Reap community). Representatives from many youth organization (20 clubs) they are always new to play leadership to volunteers for organization social working. KYCC would like to organize two courses in Phnom Penh under the topic of “Gender and Violence for Young People” for their knowledge and continues train to their targets. At the end of workshop all of participants will plan to continue train.  Youth Clubs network will be created and played important role in peer to peer education.

 

In Pursat province we are get more information about domestic violence and more about rape and trafficking in Pursat community through by Mr. Khoun Narin, executive director of Phrom Vihea Thor Organization at Pursat province. So KYCC would like to training course for this province for prevention on gender and women’s rights for young people 35 participants.

 

TOT training of trainer is capacity building new generation of young people for core continues trainers about gender. After TOT trainers get opportunity to join with young people clubs to continues training at three provinces as Kratie, Prey Veng and Kampong Speu province all this provinces KYCC have capacities to develop capacity and prevention because KYCC’s network at all this provinces.

  

Problem Statement:

Gender and violence prevention in Cambodia not yet many people know. We should focus on the young people and youth groups organization are the continue trainers and small group discussion to find issues and solutions.

 

Schedule Workshop for children and young people participants

This project using strategies such as:

      a/- Young people 12 to 25 age year old (This target can be understand)

     b/- Using brand storm gender vision (First Test)

     c/- Definition of Sex and Gender, What different Gender&Sex? By drawing pictures

     d/- Watching story on TV (Dream can not come true & Mina’s smiling)

     e/- Group discussion “Did men and women should change? Why? How?

     f/- Work in pair to discussion:

                             + What different of men and women?

                             + What man & women respond in social that you see?

     g/- Story discussion “Fax and Bird”

           Group working:

                             +What change of men & women? Why? How?

     h/- Gender Equality and Gender Equity

     i/- Role Play (Strategy and activities continue dissemination)

                             +Everyday what situation of women work?

                             +How men solute the problem?

     g/- Working in pairs:

                            +What conflict always happens in your family?

                            +How can you solute this problem?

                            +If you need this what should you do?

     k/- How many point in the women’s rights?

                            +What men & women and your family respond to increase gender?

     l/- Create plan of participants (Use 4W and 1H)

    m/- Workshop evaluation from participants

c/- 35 participants Young people at Pursat (Collaborate with Phrom Vihea Thor Organization at Pursat province)

d/- 30 participants of young people in Phnom Penh to join Training of Trainer course

e/- 140 participants Young People on 3 provinces Kratie, Prey Veng, Kampong Speu, Kandal (Koh Thom)
