What is Global Youth Service Day:

Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is an annual global event that celebrates, recognizes, and mobilizes:

 

Year-round contributions of young people to build their communities and their world through voluntary service;

 

The contributions made by the community (public, private, and nonprofit sectors) for empowering young people.

 

GYSD Vision is:

On Global Youth Service Day, millions of young people in numerous countries will highlight and carry out thousands of community improvement projects. This day will be a way for local, national and international organizations to:

Mobilize youth and adults to identify and address the needs of their communities through service;
Recruit the next generation of volunteers;
Educate the public about the role of young people as community leaders by highlighting the contributions they make to their communities year-round.
